We have a lot of fun with this each year and I always look forward to it! It’s a fun way for my students to focus on the changing spring weather and to track what they observe each day. They get so excited to check out the weather at recess each day.
I start off by reading the book In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb and then, we discuss what “lion” and “lamb” weather will look like.
I post our March Weather calendar right next to our regular March classroom calendar. It’s a quick and easy activity that can be squeezed in with calendar time, morning meeting, after lunch, etc.
After lunch recess each day, one of my assistants puts the correct icon up. We have used the chart as a jumping off point for graphing, how many more/less math problems, opinion writing, and more!
You can grab this engaging activity HERE. Includes the March and April calendars and icons!
This is such a fun activity, especially if you live somewhere with WILD spring weather! Click HERE to visit my blog post round up of my favorite spring resources.
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Teaching!
